Amy Duncan is a Scottish singer/songwriter who is also a talented multi-instrumentalist.  Her music is inspired by life, love and current affairs. Her writing is deeply honest which is only enhanced by her delicate but rich vocals. Her emotive folk sound has already been compared to other great female artists such as Joni Mitchell and Patti Smith.

Up until 2012 Amy's music had been entirely self-produced, however, at the beginning of 2011 her talent secured her funding from Creative Scotland. This made it possible for Amy to work with the renowned producer Calum Malcolm and has led to her fourth album, 'Cycles of Life', being scheduled for release on Linn Records in 2013.

Her debut album, ‘Pilgrimage', was released in 2006 on US label ‘Plain Recordings' who discovered Amy's music via Myspace.  Between 2007 - 2010 Amy independently released a further two albums including ‘Potential-Space'.  Her songwriting skills saw her track ‘My Dad' from the album ‘Story of A Girl' awarded first prize in the 2007 Burnsong competition.

Amy is a classically trained double bass player studying at both the RNCM in Manchester and the RSMAD in Glasgow. After completing her studies Amy played double bass in experimental band ‘Swelling Meg' who achieved a cult following in Edinburgh and Glasgow's underground music scene but disbanded in 2000.  Amy continues to play double bass as well as acoustic and electric guitar and piano, providing instrumental backing on her own albums.

‘Like other talented female vocalists from Joni Mitchell to Patti Smith, the sheer range and power of Duncan's vocal apparatus are breathtaking. From the sweetest high notes to the most soulful bass tones, Duncan's voice evolves through her songs literally before your ears.' Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange

...there are two sides to Edinburgh multi-instrumentalist Amy Duncan. There's the beautiful, delicate, electronica side and then there's the slightly-more-traditional Celtic folky (but no less beautiful) side, both of which take turns forming the backdrop for her absolutely gorgeous voice.' Kowalskiy Scottish Music Blog

‘Amy is a very surprising artist. She has a talent for creating songs with a great structure and a melody that writes itself.' Ark Magazine Glasgow

‘Ms Duncan's voice is used to good effect throughout with a style that varies between an endearing mature warmth to a sort of childlike innocence...' Bluesbunny Review
