Arat Kilo was formed in 2008 by a group of young Parisians with a fascination for Ethiopian music. As a group they began to perform a blend of soul, Oriental and African music and jazz which was influenced by such greats as Elvis Costello and Oliver Stone. Arat Kilo are a distinctly unorthodox group and are quick to adopt outside influences into their compositions, from rap to reggae.
