Benoit Laurent studied recorder, modern oboe and baroque oboe in Belgium (with F. de Roos, P. Dombrecht, A. Vanlancker and S. Cremers), then he studied the baroque oboe in Germany with M. Niesemann
In 2008 he was awarded second prize for his performance as a soloist at ‘Musica Antiqua' , the prestigious competition for early music in Bruges.
In 2009 he was appointed Professor of baroque oboe at the Hochschule für Musik Frankfurt. He also teaches oboe at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.
Benoit Laurent has recorded two Sammartini concerti for oboe with les Muffatti for the label Ramée (2011), Lebrun's C-maj Oboe Concerto with les Agremens (2011) and with his own ensemble Lingua Franca and german oboe band music for the label Ricercar (2010) as well as a solo recital with german sonatas (2012).
Benoit also gives concerts in orchestra and chamber music with some of the top period instrument ensembles (Concerto Köln, B'rock, Orchestre des Champs Elysées, Collegium Vocale Gent, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra,..). Additionally, he has performed as a soloist with many of most highly respected period orchestras (Concerto Köln, Akademie für alte Musik Berlin, la Stagione Frankfurt, Basel Kammer Orchester, Zürcher Kammerorchester, les Agremens, les Muffatti,...).
