The chorus of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, one of the world's largest choruses, has been led and formed by prominent conductors and chorus-masters. Walter Hagen-Groll led the chorus for 23 years, establishing its reputation. Marcus Creed, Karl Kamper and Ulrich Paetzholdt were three of his successors, and William Spaulding has been chorus-master in the beginning of the 2007/2008 season. The chorus was named "Best German Chorus" for the years 2008 and 2009, demonstrating how successful his work has been.
