    Biography

The English Classical Players is a group of London's finest musicians which was formed to give performances of the highest possible standard, primarily of the works of the classical masters. The orchestra gave its inaugural concert in the Banqueting House, Whitehall, in June 1990 and shortly afterwards made its first recording of symphonies by Mozart and Schubert with Linn Records.

They are a highly flexible group, performing with forces ranging from an octet to a full orchestra. Large scale concerts are conducted by the orchestra's Artistic Director, Jonathan Brett, whilst the smaller scale programmes are usually directed from the violin by the orchestra's brilliant young leader, Alison Kelly.

The activities of the orchestra include appearances at festivals, London's premier venues and regional concert halls.
