Having recently received the honour of 'Cavaliere Ufficiale al Merito della Repubblica Italiana' - an award for his service to Italy - Gianandrea Noseda is an accomplished and world-renowned composer who now records exclusively with the Chandos label. He has a number of other considerable achievements under his belt. To name a few, he is music director of the Teatro Regio in Turin (TRT), laureate director of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Victor De Sabata Guest Conductor to the Pitsburg Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of he Stresa Festival.
In a trial by the BBC, live performances of Beethoven's complete symphonies performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Noseda in the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester attracted in excess of 1.4 million download requests.
Further to his achievements with a number of the world's greatest orchestras, Noseda also possesses a philanthropic side toward young musicians.
To quote from an interview seen on the London Symphony Orchestra's website:
'In our youth, I think we received many things. Although I'm not old yet, we have to start giving back to the next generation what we received in ours. I received many gifts of knowledge about music from my teacher and the people I have met in my life. There comes a time when you need to pass on this information and your love of music to the younger generations.'
In line with this, he has worked closely with youth orchestras such as Joven Orquesta Nacionale de Espana (JONDE), the Orchestra of the Royal College of Music in London and the National Youth Orchestra of the United Kingdom. He has also offered master classes to young conductors at the Royal Northern College of Music as well as in the frame of his activities at the Stresa Festival.
