Jesper Sivebaek

Jesper Sivebaek is a Danish guitarist who works as both a soloist and chamber musician. He has received awards for his performances throughout Europe and currently works as associate professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.



Jesper Sivebaek is a Danish guitarist who trained at the West Jutland Academy of Music (now known as The Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Southern Denmark) with associate professor Jorgen Bjorslev. He graduated from Malmo Academy of Music's soloist class, having studied under Professor Per-Olof Johnsson.

Jesper Sivebaek performs extensively as both a soloist and chamber musician and is co-founder of the Scandinavian Guitar Duo, which won the Danish Broadcasting Association's Chamber Music Competition in 1993.

He gave premiere performances of a number of Danish guitar concertos by Karl Aage Rasmussen, Lars Heegard, Ulrik Neumann, Anders Koppel and Poul Ruders. Further to this, he has won prizes at numerous international solo guitar competitions, including those in Spain, France and Italy.

Since 2007, Jesper Sivebaek has taken up the role of associate professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Prior to this, he worked as a visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Malmo Academy of Music, the Academy of Music in Tallinn and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in the USA.
 
Jesper Sivebaek's discography includes a recent album of guitar works by Poul Ruders.
