Le Miroir de Musique

Le Miroir de Musique

Le Miroir de Musique is an ensemble which specialises in music from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, from the golden age of troubadours to the humanist movements in the 16th century.

Le Miroir de Musique is directed by Baptiste Romain and is based in Basel, Switzerland. The ensemble brings together the most prolific of the new generation of early music performers, many of whom are graduated of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Le Miroir de Musique combines historically informed performance with rich sonorities and virtuosic instrumental practice.

The image of a ‘Mirror of Music' is borrowed from Jacques de Liege's treatise (Speculum Musicae) and reflects the ensemble's goal of painting a vivid and accurate picture of Medieval and Renaissance music, as close to the originals as possible.
