Gramophone guest blog - Rosenna East: From Mozart to Berlioz
03 April 2013
Violinist for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Rosenna East, has written a guest blog for Gramophone discussing her experiences, from her disbelief as a student that she could make a career from her passion: 'I was on the verge of giving it all up as a hoax' to her reasons for joining the Scottish Chamber Orchestra: 'I joined... because I wanted to play Mozart'.
East also discusses her experiences of working with talented conducters such as Sir Charles Mackerras ('our equivalent of the Olympic gold medal') and Robin Ticciati ('he's up to new tricks') and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's second all-Berlioz CD, Les nuits d'été, featuring principal conductor Robin Ticciati and mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill: 'the silken thread of those Berlioz lines seem to spin out with the delicacy and poise of the classical masters'.
