Cappella Nova - outstanding reviews for their live performances
24 November 2007
One of Scotland's leading vocal groups, Cappella Nova, has received outstanding reviews for their tour to mark the release of Tenebrae. The group, who performed in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee and Glasgow, celebrated the launch of their album by presenting a programme of music from the Scottish composer, James MacMillan, juxtaposed with that of the sixteenth-century Italian composer, Palestrina. The Herald hailed the concert a "musical experience" and commended the group for their seamless and creative programming. "Choral passages were pierced by eloquent operatic solos. Set against the backcloth of Palestrina's flowing, glowing mass, MacMillan's music...steadily gathered force."
