Mackerras' Mozart Wins ECHO Award

26 July 2011

We are very pleased to announce that the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's recording of Mozart Symphonies 29, 31 (Paris), 32, 35 (Haffner) & 36 (Linz) has been named a winner at the 2011 ECHO Klassik Awards!

The recording, already a Finalist at the 2010 Gramophone Awards, has gone one step better and been named the' Symphonic Recording of the Year' at the prestigious awards.  This, the second Mozart Symphonies recording conducted by the late Sir Charles Mackerras, was widely considered a definitive performance of these popular symphonies.

The award will be presented at the Konzerthaus Berlin on October 2nd.  The ECHO Klassik Awards recognise the outstanding and most successful recordings by national and international classical artists and countless stars of the classical music world are expected to attend the ceremony in October 2011.

Congratulations to the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for adding yet another award to their collection!
