The spirit of the saxophone wholly permeates these recorded works from Glazunov, Debussy, Ibert, Milhaud und Villa-Lobos. The idiom of jazz is wonderfully represented through the multi-faceted sounds of south American dance rhythms and bewitching Dionysian and Apollonian tunes.

The saxophone player Mario Marzi raises beautiful worlds of sound from this instrument. For more than twenty years he has been working with the Teatro alla Scala and the Filarmonica della Scala under the baton of such leading contemporary conductors as R. Muti, C.M. Giulini, L. Berio and W. Sawallisch. Mario Marzi recorded the works on hand beautifully together with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano G. Verdi under the leadership of Hansjörg Schellenberger.
