Chaet drew inspiration from his own childhood memories while composing this album, ultimately weaving a musical story which tells of the journey from childhood to adolescence: of a time when one never stops or remains in one place and when every step leads to new discoveries and adventures.

Named for the German term for ‘Hide and Seek', the music on this album was originally written for two very different film productions: music for three old Chinese animations as well as the music for a Western TV series. In Versteckspiel (Hide and Seek), Mark Chaet uses these compositions to tell a musical story in 15 scenes which tells of a child's transition into adulthood. The child whose journey is chronicled throughout the album finally awakens, fully formed, as an adult but not without being forever marked by that childlike sense of adventure and freedom which marked their formative years.
