Le chef danois prend le temps de bâtir une narration stable dont il sait affuter les arêtes. La direction de la Symphonie no 1 en est le parfait exemple : simplicité du trait, discrétion du développement, finesse des fins de phrases...Tout semble s'articuler autour d'un naturel apaisé. L'Orchestre de la BBC du Pays de Galles forme un bel écosystème sonore, souple et modulable, prenant le temps de se développer au fur et à mesure que la musique avance.

La Symphonie no 6 évolue, elle aussi, dans un climat de grande quiétude, installé par des cordes claires et des cuivres légers. En revanche les vents contrastent par leurs des entrées parfois rudes et leurs sonorités un peu sèches. Le tempo se veut modéré´, fidèle à l'état d'esprit dans lequel se trouve l'orchestre.
