Big Screen is a trio: pianist David Newton, bassist Tom Farmer and drummer Matt Skelton. Their aim, to recast cinema music in the jazz idiom, is not new but the possibilities are endless. When it comes to bold originality and delicacy of touch, Newton is unbeatable. He can re-harmonise a tune so persuasively that you almost forget how the original sounded.
