Il masque è una forma di intrattenimento regale e aristocratico squisitamente inglese nel quale confluiscono diverse forme musicali con una fondamentale componente coreutica. Questi spettacoli erano vere e proprie feste durante le quali re e regine e altri esponenti della corte p unirsi ai partecipanti, danzando. L'ensemble Theatre of the Ayre, con il contributo del Salisbury Cathedral Choir, ha selezionato danze e canzoni di differenti masques allestiti con il contributo dei più importanti compositori dell'epoca Stuart, fra questi Henry e William Lawes e Matthew Locke.
