Francesco Piemontesi, SCO & Andrew Manze - Mozart: Piano Concertos 25 & 26 - Classic FM

14 August 2017
Classic FM
John Suchet

Now I have discovered a new musical name, always a good start when I’m selecting the Classic FM album of the week. He’s a Swiss pianist in his mid-30’s and boy is he good with Mozart. His name is Francesco Piemontesi and he has a new album out at the end of this week of two late Mozart Piano Concertos. He’s recorded them with two names I certainly do know; The Scottish Chamber Orchestra under Andrew Manze and I think the result is top class. Judge for yourself, here’s the final movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto number 25…[plays piece] Now what do you think of that, I liked it enough to select it as this weeks Classic FM Album of the week. It’s got a freshness to it, it’s not out until Friday but I’ll be playing a track from it every morning at around this time and it’s Mozarts late piano concerto.
