Mozarts Klavierkonzerte-Kosmos zählt fraglos zu den Höhepunkten der Gattung. Niemals zuvor und danach standen Leichtigkeit der Melodieführung, Komplexität der Faktur und Korrespondenz zwischen Solisten- und Orchesterparts in vergleichbarer Balance. Insbesondere die späten Konzerte des Komponisten zeichnen sich zudem durch dramaturgisches Raffinement und Expressivität aus.

Mit dem Schweizer Francesco Piemontesi hat sich einer der profiliertesten Pianisten der Mittelgeneration der beiden Werke angenommen. Seine stets luziden, dem vielgesichtigen Reich der Zwischentöne zugewandten, dynamisch fein schattierten Lesarten amalgamieren die kalt-klare Strahlkraft eines Brillanten mit der Hitze forcierten Ausdrucks. Das Orchester folgt dem Solisten mit entschlackt-transparenter, geradliniger Gangart.
