Tine Gheal/Bright Fire - The Scotsman

The third release from this accomplishes young pan-Celtic outfit originally a trio-inaugurates their expansion into a five-piece. Following the departure of Orcadian vocalist Aimée Leonard, two Scottish new-comers - Gaelic singer Fiona Fiona Mackenzie and fiddler Anna-Wendy Stevenson - join Irish members Brian Ó hEadhra (guitar/vocals/bodhrán) and Treasa Harkin (button accordion), and Cornish bouzouki/mandolin player Neil Davey.

Despite the difficulties of accommodating such a change after years of exhaustive touring to build their profile, Tine Gheal confidently bridges their past and present sound, combining subtly sophisticated instrumental arrangements, stirring twin lead vocals and well crafted folk/pop song-writing, in both English and Gaelic.

Their core Celtic palette now encompasses a greater range of world influences, from east European to Caribbean styles, the blend held together by all-round classy musicianship.
