Andrew White - Guitarra Celtica - Fyfe On Folk

07 June 1999
Fyfe On Folk

There's something about a quality label such as Linn Records which is reassuringly familiar. Much like Green Linnet and Windham Hill, these labels stand for class. Therefore it is no surprise that Linn's latest signing, the seriously talented Andrew White returns home with some beautifully constructed guitar compositions that will not only inspire other musicians but also embrace the general listener in a warm glow. Andrew's Northumbrian roots open up his associations with all things Celtic conjuring pictures of lush landscapes (imagine this music as the background to a programme by Jack Hargraves and you'll get the idea) whilst the contributions from fellow musicians including Declan Masterson on Uilleann Pipes and Whistles provide an aural palate you would associate with a Van Gough. This is real late night listening with which to impress your friends.
