Boston Baroque - Haydn Creation - Classical CD Review

Martin Pearlman and his magnificent period instrument Boston Baroque group have many superb releases on the Telarc, ranging from Baroque through contemporary, and many of these have been praised on this site. It has been some time since their last release on Telarc (all of them currently are available), and now they seem to have switched labels. This splendid Linn 2-disk set presents them at their peak of performance in a major work, Haydn's Creation. The recording was made in Mechanics Hall in Worcester, and the engineering staff I(headed by Robert Friedrich) has produced one of the most natural-sounding recordings of chorus and orchestra, with soloists perfectly balanced, a fine sense of presence throughout. Complete texts in German and English are provided. This is a major choral issue.
