Les Concerti Grossi Opus 6 de Haendel sont le prolongement "naturel" d'une palette de compositeurs célèbres, « de la glorieuse lignée d'un Torelli et surtout d'un Corelli, dont les Concerti Grossi opus 6 avaient paru à Amsterdam en 1714, bien que joués à Rome en 1682 », précise Marc Vignal, qui ajoute : « En Angleterre, l'opus 2 d'Albinoni était paru en 1709, l'opus 3 de Vivaldi en 1714 sans doute, l'opus 6 de Corelli en 1715, et l'opus 3 de Geminiani vers 1732. C'est peut-être John Walsh lui-même, devenu le principal éditeur de Haendel, qui pria ce dernier de prendre place à son tour dans cette étincelante succession ». L'ensemble Avison, sous la direction de Pavlo Beznosiuk, nous offre ici un véritable petit miracle musical. En effet, au sein d'une cohésion exemplaire des pupitres où chaque musicien donne le meilleur de son jeu, la clarté domine l'ensemble avec un rayonnement rarement entendu dans ces partitions. Tout semble alors marqué du sceau de la légèreté, de l'aérien même, et le plaisir est au rendez-vous. Un triple SACD de référence dans une prise de son somptueuse à acquérir sans tarder.
