I'll Take Romance - Scotland on Sunday

07 April 2003
Scotland on Sunday

She may not be "one of the greatest singers of the 21st century" as her publicity declares, but Tina May is one of Britain's most popular vocalists. An imaginative singer with a very distinctive enunciation, she has assembled an unusual selection of numbers including ‘Trust in Me' from The Jungle Book, ‘September in the Rain' in French, and Paul Simon's ‘I Do It For Your Love'. In addition to her top-class trio, featuring pianist Nikki Iles, May is joined by American tenor Scott Hamilton whose signature song, ‘Tonight I Shall Sleep', is the stand-out ballad.
