...it was the immense popular impact of Corelli's music, and its powerful influence upon the composers a generation his junior, that ushered in the High Baroque. The reverence in which his concertos and sonatas are held has never waned over the centuries since, even as some of his most illustrious successors slipped into (temporary) obscurity.
