Barb Jungr - Every Grain of Sand - The Sunday Times

07 April 2002
The Guardian
John Fordham

Ever felt guilty about admiring Bob Dylan's songs but never liking his voice? Barb Jungr - Britain's finest interpreter of grown-up cabaret - comes to the rescue on this haunting collection of 15 Dylan numbers.

Longtime fans of the troubadour will probably have to work harder at it than the noncommitted. But Jungr treads very delicately on their dreams, helped along by the sympathetic piano accompaniment from Simon Wallace. Strings are used exceedingly sparely. As well as revisiting early material of the calibre of Don't Think Twice, It's All Right, Jungr makes room for recent work, with Sugar baby heading the list.
