Carol Kidd - Dreamsville - Record Collector

Paul Rigby
4 Stars

And now a surprise: a new album by Carol Kidd! Kidd had retreated from the world of music after doctors diagnosed that she lost her voice due to 'trauma' following a personal bereavement. Her return is, apparently, due to fan-based demand. Singing a range of standards, she's on form on Dreamsville. Only Kidd could put the sparkle back into the overly sung 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square', while the multi-paced 'It's Alright With Me' is positively innovative.
