Dopo aver realizzato negli anni Novanta un'integrale digran pregio con la stessa orchestra per la Telarc, Sir Charles Mackerras torna al prediletto Mozart con una strepitosaversione di cinque delle sue sinfonie più famose, insuperabile  summa della musica settecentesca. Sebbene sia ormai  sul punto di spegnere 85 candeline, il grande direttore diorigine australiana conserva un piglio incalzante, una incontenibile  vitalità e un'attenzione maniacale per i dettagliche trovano pochi paragoni in direttori più giovani. Anche  grazie alla insuperabile qualità sonora garantita dai tecnicidel suono della Linn, questo cofanetto si candida fin d'ora  come uno dei migliori omaggi dedicati al Salisburghese dell'anno, come è accaduto l'anno scorso all'edizione delle ultime quattro sinfonie, vincitrice di un gran numero dipremi. Da non perdere.
