Conductor John Logan has enjoyed almost thirty years of playing in many of the UK's top orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra with Simon Rattle and a seventeen year tenure as Associate Principal Horn with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

    Conductor John Logan has enjoyed almost thirty years of playing in many of the UK's top orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra with Simon Rattle and a seventeen year tenure as Associate Principal Horn with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. As well as having the position of Head of Brass at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Logan is heavily in demand as a conductor, arranger and composer and has a special interest in bringing the world of folk and traditional music together with the symphony orchestra. To date he has written for and performed with artists such as Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain, Barbara Dickson, Eddie Reader, Roddy Hart and Dougie MacLean. As part of The Spree Festival he orchestrated for and conducted the Royal Scottish National Orchestra along with Scottish bands Admiral Fallow and The Twilight Sad.

    In 2013 he was commissioned by Tripswitch Productions to write and record the soundtrack for the Scottish short film Whistle My Lad starring Ewan Stuart (Titanic, Royal Shakespeare Company and Rob Roy) which will be premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

    His version of ‘Flower of Scotland' for pipes and orchestra will be used for the medal ceremonies at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
