Fiona Mackenzie takes 'Elevate' on the road

Since Fiona Mackenzie's debut album 'Elevate' was launched it has won critical acclaim and a nomination for album of the year. Now, Fiona, originally from Lewis, is hitting the road this June with her band made up of Brian O' hEadhra and Liza Mulholland to take the live show across Scotland.

Her style has been described as "pure and beautifully plaintive" and although a large part of Fiona's musical background draws upon her Gaelic culture, she has always taken an interest in music from other genres. Most of her own songs have been written in English and are influenced by many different types of music including pop, world and country.

In addition to new songs and material from 'Elevate', shortly to be released on 180g vinyl, Fiona will be performing material specially written for Latha Hiort which was performed at Eden Court Theatre. The day was a celebration of St Kilda and Fiona wrote a new song, in response to the island and the folk who lived there.  Fans of traditional Gaelic song will not be disappointed as Fiona will be performing contemporary and traditional song throughout the evening.
