Katherine Bryan launches the RSNO 2014/15 season

The in-demand concerto soloist and principal flautist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra helps launch her orchestra's 2014/15 season with the Scottish premiere of the Rouse Flute Concerto. This piece featured on Katherine's acclaimed second recital recording which was named 'Choice' by Gramophone upon its release: 'Katherine Bryan and the RSNO capture the fluctuating moods of the music superbly in this performance, by turns lyrical, playful, sinister and violent.'

The Flute Concerto by American composer Christopher Rouse is among his most successful and widely performed works since its debut in 1994. Rouse's concerto calls for astonishing pyrotechnics for both the flute and the orchestra; Katherine is able to showcase the sheer quality of her technique and her playing.

The rest of the programme includes the overture to Wagner's Meistersinger and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. Prepare to have your ears dazzled, as the RSNO launches its new season in a blaze of colour. Concerts are scheduled in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow on 2nd, 3rd and 4th October 2014. Book tickets here.
