Martin Taylor on Friday Night is Music Night
Martin Taylor will be performing live on BBC Radio 2's 'Friday Night is Music Night' on Friday 18th June with his group Spirit of Django.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Django Reinhardt, one of the founders of European jazz, Martin Taylor has reformed his award winning group Spirit of Django, who are currently touring throughout the UK.
Martin Taylor formed the group in 1994 to re-explore his own gypsy roots. Their first album 'Spirit of Django' (Linn AKD 237) reached No.1 in the UK jazz Charts with their version of Robert Palmer's 'Johnny & Mary' becoming familiar across Europe as the theme for the successful 'Nicole-Papa' TV adverts for Renault Clio. They were voted Best Small Group and were top of the US Gavin Jazz Charts before Martin retired the group to work on his solo recordings.
The show airs at 8pm (BST) and if you are outside of the UK or want to listen to the archive of the show then you can find it at on the BBC website.
