Power Trio pianist is interviewed in Jazzwise

In an article entitled 'Feel the force' interviewer Selwyn Harris describes Gareth Williams as "a musician keen to explore his own identity and one not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve".  Something which is evident in his new album Shock! recorded with his Power Trio.

In the three page article in the March 2009 issue of Jazzwise, Gareth goes on to discuss his influences (Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Jimi Hendrix and Cream), his 70s style ("I enjoy the use of vibrant colour in clothing") and his Welsh heritage ("There's a certain type of melancholy that interests me in the Welsh culture").

A great review is published in the same issue:
"Shock! finds an intelligent middle ground between acoustic jazz indebted primarily to Evans, Tyner and Jarrett, and more riffy elements drawn from R&B and rock sources. Williams' originals are written, arranged and played by the trio with both taste and restraint."
