Scotsman Readers Vote for "Ae Fond Kiss"

Scotsman readers have voted Ae Fond Kiss their favourite Robert Burns song in an online poll with it securing nearly quarter of the overall vote.

Focusing on the music featured in the unique Linn Records series "The Complete Songs of Robert Burns" (Linn CKD 289), the newspaper launched the survey, allowing readers to listen to a selection of the Bard's finest songs before clicking on the one they liked best.

Surprisingly, Auld Lang Syne came in at fifth place, with A Man's a Man for a' that at number two, My luve's like a red, red rose being third, while Scots Wha Hae was fourth.

In the year marking the 250th Anniversary of the legendary poet, the strong response to the vote was further proof that Burns is as popular and relevant a figure in 2009 as he has ever been.
