Cappella Nova - MacMillan: Consecration - American Record Guide

Linn’s cycle of Sir James MacMillan’s choral oeuvre continues apace, and this is a worthy addition to the series. For starters, most of the works are fairly new and haven’t been recorded previously. Principal among them is the Culham set, a group of five motets commissioned for the consecration of the Chapel of Christ the Redeemer at Culham Court, some 40 miles due west of London. Memorable songs they are, too, depicting triumphal portals, flowing waters, clouds of incense, and a luminous Jerusalem imagined in days of coming glory.
