Argentinian pianist Ingrid Fliter brings a light touch, fresh spirit and beguiling sensitivity to her new recording of Chopin piano concertos with Jun Markl and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. This is a pianist with technique pristine enough and ideas well-defined enough that she doesn't need to swamp her Chopin in sustain pedal. Her articulation is clean enough for Mozart, or indeed CPE Bach. Markl and the SCO match her poise and agility: there's fire in the outer movements, breezy lyricism in the slow movements and alluring mystery in between.
