Karen Cargill - Fleur de mon âme - Fanfare

A treat is listening to Jongen’s “Calmes, aux quais deserts,” which allows Cargill to sing out and expand. It is a wonderfully nostalgic song, almost a pastiche, and has added atmosphere thanks to the additional accompaniment of the excellent string quartet of soloists from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. There is no doubt Cargill is a big-scale singer and that she sings with a velvety and steady tone. The sound, as usual from Linn, is very well balanced and detailed. An interesting album.
