Lucy Crowe & Anna Tilbrook - Longing. Lieder by Strauss, Berg, Schoenberg - Fanfare

Crowe has all the attributes of a fine Lieder singer: a bright, clean soprano, reliable pitch (one leap settles a bit awkwardly), and clear enunciation. Her silvery high notes are reminiscent of Kathleen Battle. Crowe’s singing is expressive at the lower tessitura but higher emotional content of Berg’s youthful songs, and she seems totally comfortable with Schoenberg’s wandering, broken tonalities.
