Mozart Symphonies - SCO & Sir Charles Mackerras - Financial Times

Mackerras follows his live recording of the Beethoven symphonies, also with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, with this studio set of late Mozart symphonies, in which he again shows his knack of conjuring undogmatic period style from an ensemble of modern instruments. But it's the sheer vitality of the playing, married to Mackerras's sense of line and phrasing, that ultimately counts.
