Magnificat's debut album on Linn Records exploring the music of Palestrina, des Prez and others.

The inspiring and uplifting sacred music of the late 16th century defines ‘Europe's Golden Age', and Magnificat captures that spirit with its very special golden choral sound. There are contributions from the great polyphonists des Prez, Lassus and Victoria, as well as a selection of other exquisite works by Guerrero and Rebelo. Familiar gems such as Palestrina's Stabat mater and Allegri's Miserere mei, with appropriate vocal ornamentation and great sensitivity to the texts, complete Magnificat's stunning debut.

‘A thick and rich sound which creates a vivid performance.' Independent on Sunday

‘...wonderful, luscious sounds from a highly accomplished ensemble.' The Oxford Times

‘The sound these singers make is exquisite...' The Sunday Times

‘The singers of Magnificat have a rich, creamy sound, well blended but with each voice part's individuality also fully audible.' International Record Review

'Magnificat's cast list is about as good as it gets...' BBC Music Magazine
