In The Studio: Magnificat
Magnificat records the first of two projects dedicated to Josquin's 500th anniversary in 2021.
Released last week to great reviews, Magnificat will be holding a series of album launch concerts to celebrate the release of their album Philippe Rogier - Polychoral Works. The latest album from Magnificat features three première recordings: Domine Dominus noster, Laudate Dominum and Missa Domine in virtue tua and marks the 450th anniversary of Philippe Rogier's birth. Andrew McGregor played a track from the album on BBC Radio 3's CD Review show this past Saturday, saying that it was 'Deliciously expansive...[with] ear-expanding sounds...it sounds as good as you could possibly wish for!" You can listen to the rich Renaissance sounds of Magnificat by clicking here.
The concerts will take place at St. Jame's Church in Piccadilly, London on Thursday 17th February 2011, at New College Chapel in Oxford on Friday 18 February 2011 and at Trinity College Chapel in Cambridge on Saturday 19th February 2011. The concert will include polychoral music for two and three choirs, accompanied by His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts, dulcian, harp and organ. The Piccadilly concert begins at 19:30 and the Oxford & Cambridge concerts begin at 20:00. To book tickets, visit Magnificat's website here.
The album is available to download now in Studio Master quality (up to24 / 192) or to purchase on SACD.
