Gramophone Awards Shortlist Announced
Discover the recordings shortlisted for a 2024 Gramophone Award
The shortlist of recordings for the 2023 Gramophone Awards has been announced, and we are thrilled that The Marian Consort's latest recording has been selected in the Early Music category. The Marian Consort’s recording Vicente Lusitano: Motets, which focuses on a neglected composer of the Renaissance, was named an Editor's Choice when it was released. Gramophone commented:
Vicente Lusitano - a rare, and probably the first, example of a mixed-race Renaissance composer - is given a hugely impressive and inspiring advocacy here, his music revealed for its variety and beauty.
Other recordings which have been shortlisted include Voyage intime by Sandrine Piau & David Kadouch, Poulenc: La voix humaine by Véronique Gens, Orchestre National de Lille & Alexandre Bloch, Rivales by Véronique Gens, Sandrine Piau, Julien Chauvin & Le Concert de la Loge and Desprez: Tant vous aime by Doulce Mémoire.
The category winners, as well as the Recording of the Year and other special awards, will be announced at the awards ceremony in London on 4 October.
