Vivaldi - La Serenissima - The Scotsman

The real fascination of this stylish recording by La Serenissima lies perhaps in the relatively unfamiliar cantatas that Vivaldi wrote for the Court of Mantua. Scots soprano Mhairi Lawson sings a selection of these here with her customary charm, and these are interwoven by violin sonatas sourced from the Graz collection and performed by the ensemble's violinist and director Adrian Chandler. All-in-all this results in a very listenable and very charming little collection.
