    Biography

The Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France is known for its eclectic repertoire, the importance it gives to first performances, the original format of its concerts, the artists it invites, and its educational/outreach project. In Mikko Franck, its current Musical Director since his appointment in 2015, this ‘philharmonic spirit’ has found a standard bearer at one with the orchestra’s values and ambitions, with the determination to make every concert a new experience in musical and human terms. Conscious of the orchestra’s social and cultural role, every season the philharmonic rethinks its projects and aims at new audiences, with creative initiatives in the schools, workshops, new concert types, performing In hospitals, prisons, at interactive concerts, and even more. The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Mikko Franck have also been active as goodwill ambassadors for Unicef.
