The Edison Klassiek Nominations
Catriona Morison receives a nomination in the Debut category for her album, The dark night has vanished
Vanitas by Georg Nigl and Olga Pashchenko is named a winner at the annual Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik Awards. Only ten annual awards are given out which makes this a particularly prestigious prize. It is the latest award to be won by Alpha Classics, which was named 'Label of the Year' by Gramophone last year.
On the recording Georg Nigl and pianist Olga Pashchenko explore the tortuous meanders of the human soul with vocal works by Schubert (an ‘existentialist’ composer if ever there was one), Beethoven (whose torments hardly need stressing) and the contemporary composer Wolfgang Rihm, whose piece Vermischter Traum is dedicated to the Austrian singer and receives its world premiere on this recording.
