Two Linn titles are being considered for the German Record Critics' Award
MusicWeb International's Recordings Of The Year
The critics have spoken and three Linn recordings have been named by MusicWeb International's reviewers as their Recordings of the Year: Samson by Dunedin Consort, John Butt and the Tiffin Boys' Choice, the debut album by Maxwell Quartet and Elizabeth Kenny's theorbo recording, Ars longa. You can read the full list here.
Simon Thompson chose Dunedin Consort's recording of Handel's Samson describing it as "a taught, exciting reading with the very finest performances and top notch sound. Excellent!"
Marc Rochester chose Maxwell Quartet's debut album of Haydn stating: "When it comes to eccentric programming, few releases this year have matched the Maxwell Quartet’s debut disc... one of the year’s great pleasures."
Glyn Pursglove chose Ars longa: Old and new music for theorbo by Elizabeth Kenny, describing it as "a major contribution to the revival of the theorbo as a solo, rather than just a continuo, instrument..."
